We strive to help our clients learn new positive ways of coping with life's problems. Participants are given the skills necessary to remain sober (and “smober”: smoke free) and lead a more productive lifestyle.
We deliver our program through the following means:
Confidential support and counselling
Support Groups
Individual counselling
Behavior modification training
Lectures
Physical fitness and skills of daily living education
Community service opportunities
Short and long-term goal setting
Vocational planning
Admission Requirements
The program at Mackay Manor is available to every male resident of Ontario 18 years and older, regardless of race, religion or nationality; however, we do give priority to residents of Renfrew County.
Residents must commit to at least the following:
3 to 6 month stay
Detoxification of 72 hours required
Be willing to quit smoking / tobacco use
Regularly attend AA or NA meetings
Participate in daily support groups
Maintain good physical fitness & hygiene
Referrals are invited from all sources.
All participants must be detoxed, participate in an interview with Mackay Manor staff and have the physical and mental ability to function within the Recovery Home environment. Applicants must make a minimum commitment of 3 months to the program.

Executive Director
Tom Carroll has been in the addiction field since 1998, working generally in the residential sector. He is an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counsellor and a Nationally Certified Tobacco Addiction Specialist
certifications with the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation.
Counsellor
Dave Singleton is an Addiction counsellor who has been employed by Mackay Manor since 2009, Dave has taken the Teach program through CAMH, holds an Addiction Diploma from McMaster University and a Canadian Contingent Alcohol & Drug Counsellor designation with the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation.
